Goodness Gardens is a social and educational Kaupapa with a charitable aim.

We are growing food, flowers and friendship in an inclusive, beautiful environment with a focus on health and sustainability

Goodness Gardens Community

Providing Accessible Community Gardening

Goodness Gardens Community garden was established by club and committee members over 10 years ago, and now grows kai and flowers for the local community. Kai is currently grown and given to the Victory Baptist Church ‘Homemade at Work’ Service, as well as other local people and groups.

The garden provides a unique support to all members of the local community, which are otherwise heavily restricted due to lack of light and living in a bush environment. It can also support other local communities that currently feel disenfranchised due to having to rent homes and lack of garden space due to high density housing.

We have identified increasing interest from the community in the community garden. We are regularly being approached by community (non-club) members who are interested in contributing to the community garden and to the environmental care of this whenua.

This is particularly the case for locals who live within our protected forest Waitakere Ranges Heritage Area (Special Ecological Area) and don’t have open, sunny space to grow kai.
